Understand and change Peptalk in Cortex Chat: practical steps, setting explanations, result checks and troubleshooting.
Peptalk adds interruptible conversation while you wait. It is a per-Sidekick voice setting, separate from enabling voice itself and from choosing the voice. The interface describes it as easy to interrupt rather than a promise about task completion.
Before you start
Choosing a voice, activating the profile and starting a conversation are separate stages. A voice catalogue can load while activation fails. An activated profile can still be unable to start because the service reports a readiness or credits issue. The microphone and playback permissions introduce another layer when an actual session begins. Read the current status and the specific error at the stage where it occurs. Do not blame microphone settings for a failed activation request before capture has even started. Review the intended Sidekick profile before opening advanced Lyre settings, and reconcile an uncertain configuration or payment result before repeating it.
Step-by-step
- Open Lyre settings for the selected Sidekick.
- Locate Peptalk and set the switch as intended while voice is activated.
- Wait for the configuration save and check the switch’s confirmed state.
What the settings mean

Peptalk is saved for the intended Sidekick without changing another voice profile.
If it does not work
If the control is disabled, check activation, connectivity and save state. Do not treat speech while waiting as evidence that an external tool action has finished.
