Resolve owner approval needed

Resolve owner approval needed in Cortex Chat: practical steps, setting explanations, result checks and troubleshooting.

An administrator may only delegate tools within the owner’s approved ceiling. The tool dialog provides exact guidance when owner approval is missing, including the account, private or group context and application.

Before you start

Effective tool access depends on the connected account, workspace authority, the owner’s approval ceiling and the Sidekick’s saved context-specific policy. These settings are deliberately separate. A checkbox can represent an unsaved choice, while the running assistant may still be using its previously saved tools until refresh. Review the description and read/write annotation rather than granting everything in response to one error. Private and group policies can differ even for the same assistant. If the interface reports owner approval needed, follow its exact account/context/application guidance. Restarting cannot manufacture missing approval and can affect the Sidekick in other conversations.

Step-by-step

  1. Read the owner-approval message for the intended app.
  2. Have the workspace owner open Profile → Administrator permissions, select the administrator and the correct context/application, then save the permitted tools.
  3. Return and use Refresh owner approval before saving the assistant’s own tool policy.

What the settings mean

Control or stateMeaning
Owner ceilingThe maximum tools an administrator may delegate.
Saved policyThe actual operations selected for this Sidekick/context.
Unsaved selectionDraft choices that have not yet taken effect.
Runtime refreshHow the running assistant receives a saved policy change.

Check the result

The administrator can grant only the approved operations for the intended context.

If it does not work

A group administrator title alone is insufficient. Match the exact account and context instead of granting a broad workspace role to suppress the message.

Continue with the right context
