Set an administrator’s tool ceiling

Set an administrator’s tool ceiling in Cortex Chat: practical steps, setting explanations, result checks and troubleshooting.

A tool ceiling limits what the administrator can subsequently grant to a Sidekick. It does not itself grant every agent those tools. The context and application filters help constrain this approval to the relevant workflow.

Before you start

The profile menu links account identity, Wallet information and workspace administration. Changes to a member role or an administrator ceiling affect shared access; they are not conversation appearance settings. Read the selected person’s email and the workspace context before saving. Member invitations, group membership and Sidekick tool access are different layers, with separate confirmation and recovery paths. A stale-data message means you should reload current information before a new mutation. For financial work, the selected Wallet account and its transaction history matter more than an isolated balance summary. Never include account tokens, recovery information or payment data in a public support screenshot.

Step-by-step

  1. As an authorised owner, open Administrator permissions and select the intended account.
  2. Set the private or named-group context and application, then select the permitted operations.
  3. Save the changed approval and have the administrator refresh owner approval before saving the Sidekick policy.

What the settings mean

Control or stateMeaning
My accountPersonal account settings and identity.
Workspace membersPeople, roles and invitation/status management.
Administrator permissionsOwner approval for management and tool delegation.
Recent actionsRecorded workspace operations, separate from conversation history.

Check the result

The intended ceiling is saved, and the assistant still needs its own appropriate tool policy.

If it does not work

If the intended administrator is missing or a revision conflict appears, reload current data before saving. Avoid overwriting another owner’s concurrent change.

Continue with the right context
