Choose or change a Sidekick voice in Cortex Chat: practical steps, setting explanations, result checks and troubleshooting.
The voice picker searches by name, language, accent and other catalogue metadata. Voice changes are disabled during an active conversation so the current session is not reconfigured mid-call. A highlighted choice still needs a successful save.
Before you start
Choosing a voice, activating the profile and starting a conversation are separate stages. A voice catalogue can load while activation fails. An activated profile can still be unable to start because the service reports a readiness or credits issue. The microphone and playback permissions introduce another layer when an actual session begins. Read the current status and the specific error at the stage where it occurs. Do not blame microphone settings for a failed activation request before capture has even started. Review the intended Sidekick profile before opening advanced Lyre settings, and reconcile an uncertain configuration or payment result before repeating it.
Step-by-step
- Open Settings for the intended Sidekick and find Voice.
- End an active voice conversation, search the catalogue and select the intended radio option.
- Select Save voice and confirm the displayed Current voice name.
What the settings mean

Check the result
The saved voice belongs to the intended Sidekick and the current session is no longer using an unsaved choice.
If it does not work
If no voices match, clear the search and check the catalogue load error. If saving fails, use Retry and inspect the confirmed configuration.
