Change a group photo

Change a group photo in Cortex Chat: practical steps, setting explanations, result checks and troubleshooting.

The group logo or photo appears beside its identity. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG and WebP, up to 5 MB. A changed group photo is shared identity information rather than your private device background.

Before you start

Group identity, membership, welcome text, history policy and invitation rights are shared controls. They are different from a conversation background stored on one device. Owner and administrator capabilities can also differ: the interface exposes specific rights rather than making every administrator equivalent. Review the exact group and the current saved values before changing a shared setting. If an edit is blocked, the absent or disabled control may reflect a permission boundary. Refresh stale data rather than replacing a group to work around the problem. Removing a member, revoking an invitation, leaving the group and deleting the entire group each have a different effect.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the group information with permission to edit it.
  2. Use Upload group logo or Change group photo and choose a suitable image.
  3. Confirm the uploaded photo appears on the intended group.

What the settings mean

Control or stateMeaning
IdentityThe group name, description and shared photo.
HistoryWhether joining members can read earlier conversation content.
Member rightsWhat group participants may send or invite.
Administrator rightsSpecific group-management powers, separate from workspace tool access.

Check the result

The correct group displays a safe, intended image.

If it does not work

If the upload is rejected, check format and size. Avoid including private people, customer records or screenshots with account details in a group logo.
